River rafting

For years, the Bio Bio was one of Chile's most famous rivers for whitewater rafting. What once was a wild river with first class rapids is now a big artificial lake.

In the Villarrica area, though on a smaller scale, the Rio Trancura offers some good rafting too, whereas the Rio Toltén is more for families with children.

Rio Toltén

Providing only small rapids, but an untouched and stunning landscape, the Toltén River has good family rafting. For more details, contact Sud Explorer, 09-2322893. They need at least four persons for the trip.

Rio Trancura

Trancura Bajo, the lower part of the Trancura river, has grade III rapids (Pescador, Junta de Rios) and is suitable for the entire family. The trip takes approx. 3 hours, rafting time is one hour.

For the more adventurous traveler, the Trancura Alto has grade IV rapids. A accompanying kayak is provided for safety reasons. The trip takes 2 hours, (4 hours in total), and is suitable for everybody. Children must be 14 years or older.
