Fishing

Fishing on the Toltén River is good, and especially fly fishing is becoming increasingly popular in summer. The season runs from the second Friday in November to the first Sunday in May, a license can be obtained from the municipality.

Rio Toltén

There are 92 species of water animals living in the Toltén River, with Salmons and Trouts being the most important for fishing. If you have your own equipment, there are some good spots whithin walking distance from our hostel.

Walk out of town on P. de Valdivia towards Loncoche and past the last houses follow the signs to Putue. Watch out for small tracks leading down to the river's edge on the right hand side.

Boteros

Several boteros - fishing guides with their own boat - are waiting on the lake shore near the bridge, either on A. Prat (German School) or on San Martín (near the hospital). Floating slowly down the river, they show you the best spots and tricks for fishing. Half and full day trips are available. On demand, the guide prepares the catch on a nice spot on the river shore.
