Mountainbiking - Huincacara

The Huincacara track is our toughest ride. Don't underestimate the distance and the total ascent of more than 1000 meters, you should be very fit to do it. You'll be rewarded with spectacular scenery and superb views of the volcano.

Route description

For the first twenty kilometers the sandy gravelroad gradually climbs towards the volcano. It quickly deteriorates and shortly before reaching the highest point at km 30 you have to lift the bike over a gate. Ask Conaf park ranger Eliseo Ortiz for permission to pass his property, he will also show you the dirt track behind his shed leading to a big canyon. It's a short (1 km) but very difficult section and there is some walking, pushing and riding on former riverbeds involved. The following downhill crosses the same canyon a couple of times and offers fine views towards Lake Calafquen. Turn right at the Pino Huacho School and follow the gravel road through scenic farmland. The last part is on the hilly but paved highway from Lican Ray to Villarrica.
